A lasting power of attorney (edunvalvontavaltuutus) allows you to appoint a trusted person to manage your affairs should you lose capacity due to illness or accident.

Coming into effect

The power of attorney comes into force after it has been confirmed by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV), once the grantor is no longer able to manage their own affairs. The attorney must apply for confirmation.
